Xiaomi had already introduced the company’s flagship smartphone for 2015, the Xiaomi Mi 5. This handset was announced back in February, and it has been available out in the market for quite some time now. That being said, Xiaomi is expected to introduce yet another flagship this year, their flagship phablet, the Mi Note 2. The Mi Note and Mi Note Pro were introduced in January last year, so the Mi Note 2 is long overdue at this point. This phablet has been leaking out for quite some time now, we’ve seen bits and pieces here and there, and considering that the release date is getting closer by the day, a proper leak finally surfaced in China, read on.
According to the leaked info, the Mi Note 2 will sport a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) 2.5D curved glass Force Touch display, though a fullHD (1920 x 1080) variant will also be available it seems. This phablet will arrive in three variants it seems, the most affordable model will feature 4GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage (+fullHD display), while the middle-of-the-road variant will come with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The most expensive unit will sport a curved display on both sides it seems, similar to the one on the Galaxy S7 Edge and the Galaxy Note 7, and this variant will also feature 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The fingerprint scanner will also going to be a part of this package, and so will the 16-megapixel camera, at least in some variants of the device. The leak is not exactly all that clear about what’s going on here, but it seems like the standard Mi Note 2 variant will ship with a 16-megapixel sensor, while the other two models will come with two 12-megapixel rear-facing camera sensors and a QHD display. The 4,000mAh battery will be included in the package as well, and you can also expect to see a Type-C USB 3.0 port here, while the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC will fuel all Mi Note 2 handsets if this leak is to be believed. The three aforementioned variants of the Mi Note 2 will, allegedly, cost 2,499 Yuan ($376), 2,999 Yuan ($451) and 3,499 Yuan ($526), respectively.
A China-based analyst said, a while back, that Xiaomi plans to release a new flagship device this month, and even though he did not mention anything about the Mi Note 2, pretty much everyone assumed that the device that will land before the end of August. Well, if recent rumors are to be believed, the Mi Note 2 might arrive on September 5th after all, but nothing is certain yet, stay tuned.
