Benchmarks are not exactly the best way to determine how fast a device is, as in how fast will it perform in real life. Software which comes on the device is just as important, so you can basically have the most powerful device in the world in terms of specs, but it can perform horribly due to the software that comes included with it. That being said, benchmarks are a good indication of how powerful the hardware is, which is why many tech review sites still use it as some sort of a guideline, we do as well. Well, as many of you know, Apple had introduced new iPhone 7 devices quite recently, so it might be time to talk a bit about benchmarks, as a new report surfaced and it’s quite interesting actually, read on.
As many of you know, both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are fueled by the A10 Fusion chip, which is a real beast in terms of performance, at least according to benchmarks. This chip basically includes new architecture which enables faster processing, but only when needed. Now, let’s take a look at some benchmarks in order to compare Apple’s new iPhone 7 offerings to some Android devices, shall we. The following benchmark comparisons are based on Geekbench’s benchmarking results, and if you take a look at the image below this article, you’ll get to see Apple’s new offerings compared to a number of Android devices. As far as single-core performance goes, Apple’s offering blows everything out of the water it seems. Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus managed to score 3,450 points on Geekbench, while the second-placed is Samsung’s Galaxy S7 which scored 1,806 points. The Galaxy S7 is followed by the Galaxy Note 7 (1,786 points), Galaxy S7 Edge (1,744 points), Huawei P9 (1,729 points) and the OnePlus 3 (1,698 points).
Now, as far as multi-core results are concerned, things look much, much better for Android devices. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are still ahead of the pack here, but not by much, these two phones scored 5,630 points on Geekbench, while the Galaxy Note 7 is second-placed with a score of 5,228 points. The third in line is the Galaxy S7 with 5,213 points, and is followed by the Galaxy S7 Edge (5,203 points), Huawei P9 (4,735 points) and the OnePlus 3 (4,015 points). So as you can see, Apple’s new devices are ahead of the pack as far as Geekbench’s benchmarks go, which is not that odd, but the single-core performance sure comes as a surprise. Once again, benchmarks don’t really have to represent real world performance, this is just some interesting info that we wanted to share with you.
