Facebook Photos Integration Coming To Outlook Mobile

The development team responsible for Outlook.com and the Outlook mobile app have been rather responsive to users’ requests in recent years, especially when it comes to integration of third-party services. The latest update on the development of this ever-evolving software only serves as further proof of that. Namely, after receiving a lot of positive feedback from Android and other users regarding Dropbox integration, the developers have decided to extend the list of storage options offered by both the mobile and browser version of their email app. More specifically, in addition to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Box, Outlook will soon be updated with Facebook Photos support.

What that basically means is that it won’t be long before you’ll be able to handle your Facebook photos directly through the Outlook mobile app. In other words, there’ll be no need to open the Facebook app if all you want to do is email a photo or several photos to someone. The said integration is expected to start rolling out in the coming weeks and should soon be available to all Outlook users by fall. In an announcement posted earlier this year, Kirk Koenigsbauer, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of the Office team revealed that the functionality will first appear in the browser version of Outlook before making its way to the Android app. Then again, he said the same thing about the Google Drive integration and that one made its way to Android first while it’s only now debuting on Outlook.com together with the aforementioned support for Facebook photos.

The Microsoft Outlook Android app was just updated yesterday but it still doesn’t feature support for Facebook photos and the Play Store change log reveals the only thing the latest update does is fixes some bugs and brings the app version up to 2.1.65. In addition to that, the log record ends with a promise of new features that are coming soon. Koenigsbauer stated that these latest changes related to storage options are just another step towards the company’s goal of making all Office products as open to customers and partners as possible, implying that plenty more new features will come in the following months.
