We’ve already seen quite a few compelling devices announced at this year’s IFA tradeshow in Berlin. Samsung had introduced a couple of Gear S3 smartwatches yesterday, Nubia had rolled out the Nubia Z11 flagship, and there’s plenty more to come. Well, it’s Huawei’s turn, the company has just introduced their much-rumored smartphones which belong in the same smartphone line, the Huawei Nova and Nova Plus, let’s see what these two phones have to offer, shall we.
The ‘Nova’ line of smartphones is actually brand new, and these two smartphones are the first devices to launch under the ‘Nova’ brand. These two phones are actually mid-rangers, though they do have really compelling specs to offer. These two devices are actually identical in terms of the design, but they are different in size. The Huawei Nova features a 5-inch 1080p display, while its larger sibling comes with a 5.5-inch fullHD panel. Both of these devices feature rear-facing fingerprint scanners, and Huawei’s branding below the display, while on-screen buttons are also a part of this package. The 12-megapixel snapper (1.25um pixel size) can be found on the back of the Huawei Nova, while the Nova Plus comes with a larger, 16-megapixel (1.12um pixel size) unit, both devices ship with 8-megapixel front-facing cameras. The USB Type-C is placed on the bottom of both devices, and they both have battery units larger than 3,000mAh. The Huawei Nova comes with a 3,020mAh battery, while the Nova Plus sports a 3,340mAh unit.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core processor fuels both of these phones, and they both ship with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on Huawei’s new Nova devices, and on top of Google’s OS you’ll be able to find Huawei’s EMUI 4.1 skin. The Huawei Nova measures 141.2 x 69.1 x 7.1mm, while it weighs 146 grams. The Huawei Nova Plus, on the other hand, measures 151.8 x 75.7 x 7.3mm, and weighs 160 grams. As you can see, the Huawei Nova Plus is somewhat larger and heavier device, that was to be expected though considering its display is noticeable larger.
If you happen to be interested in either of these two devices, you should know that they will be available in Prestige Gold, Mystic Silver and Titanium Gray color variants. The Huawei Nova will become available starting next month in over 50 countries, while it will roll out to Germany Austria, France and Spain before anywhere else. The Huawei Nova Plus, on the other hand, will also ship in over 50 countries starting next month, but it will be available in Spain, Italy and Canada before hitting other markets. These two phones can be purchased in China from JD.com or Tmall.com, as well as Huawei’s official store. The Huawei Nova is priced at €399, while its larger counterpart comes in at €429.
