Leak: Marketing Materials For Google Allo Hit The Web

A launch of Google’s Allo messaging application looks imminent as marketing materials for the app seem to have surfaced this afternoon. This is following two earlier rumors regarding the launch of the app. The first, which came up yesterday afternoon, was a tweet from well-known leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks on Twitter) stating that Allo would be launching this week. At the time of the initial tweet from Blass there was no date rumored other than speculation from other users in the comments that Google would be releasing Allo to the public on September 20th. Blass later followed up his original tweet with another from earlier this morning that states the Allo launch will be this Wednesday, September 21st.

With the rumors from Blass in addition to the marketing materials for Allo having hit the web, it’s looking more and more likely that Google is getting ready to launch Allo officially, which would then be joining Duo, their new video chat application which launched back in August. Although Allo is still not available, you can pre-register for the app on the Play Store if you wish to be among the first notified to be when the app actually launches.

In the image below Google explains that Allo is a “smart messaging application” that is capable of learning about its users over time the more that they use it. This is of course no surprise as Google mentioned this already during their official announcement for Allo back at Google I/O. The intelligence is powered by Google Assistant, Google’s AI software that will also appear in things such as the Google Home smart speaker that is thought to be launching in the near future. These recent rumors and leaks aren’t the first bits of Allo that we have seen over the Summer either as sticker packs for the app have been previously leaked, and back on August 30th Google began listing Allo under the “new and updated apps” section within the Play Store, which seems to suggest that they have been preparing to launch the app for weeks now. With September 21st to be the likely launch date, the only thing seemingly left unknown is the time of day that the app will go live.
