Lenovo, the world’s largest PC manufacturer, introduced its Yoga line of convertible PCs a few years earlier in an effort to revitalize the stagnating global PC market. It is easily one of the more matured convertible PC lineups in the world right now alongside Microsoft’s Surface and ASUS’ Transformer series of 2-in-1 devices. The China-based manufacturer had unveiled its latest convertible PC, called the Yoga Book, earlier this month at the IFA trade show in Berlin and the device is now apparently up for pre-order in the U.K. directly from Lenovo’s official website. The Yoga Book comes in two distinct choices – one running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and another, on Windows 10. While the former comes with a price-tag of £429.99 and is available in Gunmetal Grey and Champagne Gold, the latter is listed at £509.99 and is being offered only in Carbon Black. There’s also been some chatter about a Chrome OS version being in the pipeline, but the company is yet to disclose anything officially on that front.
The Lenovo Yoga Book features a 10.1-inch 1080p IPS LCD display with Capacitive Touch and AnyPen Technology that allows it to accept inputs from standard pens. It also comes with what Lenovo is calling a ‘Create Pad’ that is basically a glass surface where the standard keyboard should be. The area can either be used as a regular keyboard with an illuminated keypad, or to take notes with the bundled Real Pen, which, as its name suggests, is a ‘real’ pen with real ink inside that allows users to takes notes on paper as well, if needed. The device is powered by a 2.4GHz quad-core Intel Atom x5-Z8550 processor and has 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It also comes with 64GB of storage that can be expanded by way of a microSD card of up to 128GB in capacity.
As for the imaging options, the rear-facing shooter sports an 8-megapixel sensor with auto-focus, while the front-facing camera is a 2-megapixel unit with fixed focus. The Yoga Book supports dual-channel Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and has a G-Sensor, an ambient light sensor and a hall sensor. The battery is an 8,500mAh unit and Lenovo is bundling a number of accessories with the device, like the Real Pen stylus, ink refills and Book Pad & Paper. As for the estimated ETA, while both versions have been put up for pre-order in the country, the Windows model is expected to be shipped by the end of this month, whereas the Android version is expected to start shipping in about four weeks’ time.
