Lyft & Gett Now Included As Ride Options In Google Maps

Google Maps is a very useful tool for finding your way around, and many know that its usefulness goes far beyond just knowing where you are and how to get to where you want to go. You can look up local services and hotspots in Maps, and even compare ways to get to where you need to go. Ride sharing services like Uber are on board with the feature, among others, to give users plenty of options and at every price point. Now, Google has added two more partners to the list of available ride sharing vendors for users to browse; Lyft, and Gett, the latter of which will mainly be of use to those who live in New York City.

To access the options and do some price shopping for a ride, all a user has to do is type in a location they need to get to and go through the menu as if they intend to get directions there. In the menu where one normally chooses their method of transport, an icon showing a taxi can be found. A click of that icon will bring you to a screen where you can check out estimated fares for local transport solutions. A list which going forward will now include Lyft and Gett. While Uber, one of the more prominent options already present, does service most areas, a Lyft or Gett driver may be closer or offer a better price.

Along with showing more providers, the menu also shows different options from those providers. Uber and Lyft, for example, have different tiers with different pricing to serve different needs. Options like an SUV for a large number of people, a simple car for a cheap one-person ride, and a limousine for getting around in style are all available. Estimated arrival times to your location and a range of estimated fares are displayed next to each option. Google Maps users all over the nation should begin seeing Lyft as an option soon, while as mentioned, Gett rides will only be shown in New York City. You can check out how the new options will show up in the images below.
