There are quite a few great music players available for Android with a variety of features and playback options to enhance your listening experience. Now there is a new app called Muviz, which is not a music player in itself, but rather a standalone app that takes the idea of visualizations to the next level by overlaying music visualizations onto your smartphone’s navbar, making them continuously visible as you use your device.
The app has a large selection of styles to choose from, including both free and paid options. Muviz provides a visualization editor, so users can customize the built-in visualizations, or even create their own style, with options to customize the shape, color, size spread and more. If your device doesn’t have a navbar, don’t worry, you can still get in on the fun. In this case, the visualizations will appear above the hardware buttons. As far as compatibility, the visualizations will work with most music apps, including popular apps like Google Play Music and Spotify, and even some video apps, such as YouTube and MX Player. And surprisingly enough, the app can be installed on devices with or without root access, so you won’t have to make any tricky system modifications in order to use it. The developers note that some apps, such as Chrome and Spotify, use their own customized navbars, which can’t be overridden, so when these and similar apps are open, the visualizations will be temporarily hidden. The app has a nice look to it, with a clean interface and easy-to-navigate menus, and each visualization shows a live preview so that you can get an idea of what it will look like in action before selecting it. There are also a few other options to customize the experience, such as the ability to hide visualizations when full-screen apps are open, or only show them from the home screen.
If you’d like to give Muviz a try, it can be installed for free from the Google Play Store using the link below. The premium version of the app can be obtained through a one-time in-app purchase of $1.99, which unlocks all of the shapes that are unavailable in the free version.
