Rovio Launches Angry Birds 2 Update With 2 New Chapters

Rovio Entertainment’s Angry Birds franchise has enjoyed a lot of success and time under the spotlight over the years, and while other, more popular titles – such as Clash of Clans and Pokemon GO – have won the app stores eventually, the Angry Birds franchise continues to exist, and Rovio Entertainment keeps working on new updates. Speaking of which, Angry Birds 2 has received a new hefty update a couple of days ago, which includes two brand new chapters and a handful of other goodies.

The latest Angry Birds 2 update for the Android platform brings the app up to v2.9.0 and the whole package weighs 108 MB. The update includes two new chapters called Hamazonas and Copacabacon, which include a total of 40 new levels, as well as 6 new boss pigs. The changelog also mentions that new hats have been added, hinting at pirate, beach, and school themes, and that “new pigs [are] on the block” so players should watch out for towers and beams. This pretty much wraps up the new content found alongside the new update, so if you’re interested in updating the app or installing it for the first time, feel free to hit the Play Store banner below.

As for readers who may not be too familiar with the Angry Birds franchise – rare as they may be – the first Angry Birds game was released in December of 2009 and was a great success, leading to numerous iterations, holiday-themed and movie-themed releases including Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Star Wars and Angry Birds Transformers. In fact, Rovio Entertainment launched 13 Angry Birds games and spin-offs in-between the first release and Angry Birds 2, including a racing game (Angry Birds Go!), a side-scrolling shooter (AB Transformer), and the Angry Birds Epic role-playing game. The company also launched a handful of animated series as well as a 3D computer-animated film adaptation in May 2016, called The Angry Birds Movie which has been the subject of both positive and negative reviews in a rather polarized fashion. In any case, back to the matter at hand, the latest update to Angry Birds 2 gives players new content to explore, and perhaps a new reason to take a break from the more recent Angry Birds Action! pinball game.
