While there are already many tools available to help people be more productive in life through the use of their smartphones, Samsung feels that they could helps users be even more productive and have released a new app called Samsung Focus, which is essentially a comprehensive offering that helps people manage their productivity more by mashing more than a few app functions into one. Samsung is calling this a unified productivity application, and although it looks like it could actually be pretty useful to have installed, it’s only compatible with Samsung’s line of Galaxy handsets like the Galaxy S7 Edge and will be limited to those devices.
Inside of the app you’ll be able to do anything from managing email (which includes replying to emails and sending them) to managing your contacts and calendar events and entries. Samsung has baked in support for IMAP and POP3 accounts, but they have also made it possible to link up your Exchange ActiveSync email accounts as well which is especially useful if you use this email protocol for work. For those that use services like CISCO Webex, Citrix GoTo Meeting, or ‘16.08 for conference calls, Samsung Focus will allow you to easily and efficiently join those conference calls so you won’t have to use another app.
Samsung Focus can also sync plenty of other useful business oriented things like memos and tasks, and it has a unified search so you can search for anything inside of the app that it supports, something which users should find to be a blessing given the app syncs quite a few things, and without it searching for stuff could be quite a bit more cumbersome. Since users are likely to get a handful of notifications for emails, tasks, memos, and calendar events from Samsung Focus, the app also utilizes an unread count so you know how many of these elements you have yet to open up and check on. While this does support Samsung Galaxy devices, they are required to be running at least Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. In addition to all of these functions, everything has a Google Now style card layout that is pleasing to look at, and the app seems to be easy to navigate with button at the bottom of the screen that allow you to switch between email, contacts, calendar and more. The app is already live in the Play Store if you’re interested in grabbing it for your device.
