Samsung "Veyron" To Come With Always On Display

Samsung has been one of those brands that have refused to give up the flip phone form factor. In recent years the company has released a couple of high-end flip phones in Asian markets, with China being their largest market. Although many people may consider the form factor something of the past, it’s clear they are still popular enough to warrant a successor. With this in mind, it didn’t surprise many last week when it emerged that Samsung was allegedly developing a new generation model, codenamed the “Veyron.”

Now although this isn’t the first that’s been heard about this model, more information appears to have leaked. The leak claims that the unique smartphone will come with Samsung’s fast charging technology, which can be seen on its Galaxy S7 flagship. In addition to this, the device appears to have borrowed yet another feature from the flagship lineup in the form of an Always on Display, which will most likely be used on the secondary display that the device is equipped with. Unfortunately for some users, the device doesn’t share the iris scanner that debuted on the Galaxy Note7 or the waterproofing seen on this year’s flagship lineup. Looking back at what was already rumored, the device is expected to feature a relatively large – at least in comparison with other flip phones – 4.2-inch display with a 1080 x 1920p (Full HD) resolution. On the inside, the device is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 820 Processor which is coupled with both 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is likely expandable via microSD.

In regards to the camera, the device is expected to feature a 12-megapixel rear camera – possibly the same sensor as the Galaxy S7 – and a 5-megapixel front camera. Other characteristics include a 2000mAh battery, which should charge pretty quickly with the new wireless charging tech, and a fingerprint scanner for extra security. Software-wise, the device is expected to come running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, with a special version of TouchWiz on top. Finally, although Samsung has neither confirmed the existence of this device or teased any kind of release date, the fact that more and more sightings of the device are occurring are surely a good sign that a release isn’t too far away.
