The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was launched early last month and it has since gone on sale in 10 countries worldwide. While the Galaxy Note 7 sports Corning’s latest protection, Gorilla Glass 5 on its display and on its back, numerous torture tests performed on the device has revealed that Gorilla Glass 5 is easily scratched, though it can withstand drops on its front pretty well, though its back seems to break quite easily. However, Corning has disputed claims that its latest glass scratches easily, saying that the scratch tests performed on it was not carried out in a controlled environment. Well, the build quality of Samsung’s latest device has come under question once again, in a report published by CNET, in which the screen of a Galaxy Note 7 cracked while sitting in a purse.
Jessica Dolcourt was out with her colleagues when she took the Galaxy Note 7 out to snap a group photo. After doing so, Jessica slipped the device back into an interior pocket in her purse which contained another phone which she was currently testing. Before she was able to discover the crack on the display, Jessica’s leather purse accompanied her into a booth, hung on her shoulder, rode alongside her in a taxi and sat on the carpeted bedroom floor during the night. Later on, she discovered that the display of the Galaxy Note 7 had suffered a crack on its top right corner. According to Jessica, she believes that someone pressed up against her purse while at the bar and this caused the other phone to crush against the Galaxy Note 7. However, the other device did not suffer any damage and had no glass dust from the cracked Galaxy Note 7 on it.
When Samsung was asked to comment, the company said, “our Galaxy Note devices are some of the most durable smartphones available today. The glass on the Galaxy Note 7 was developed specifically to increase drop protection while securing damage resistance, optical clarity, and touch sensitivity.” Well, if you are a proud new owner of a Galaxy Note 7, it is best to protect your beloved device with a sturdy case and a screen protector, to avoid any unwanted damage to it. It has been a really good week for Samsung, as there have been reports that the company is planning a recall for its Galaxy Note 7 devices which are carrying faulty batteries.
