The Vkworld T1 Plus Kratos is a smartphone which comes equipped with a 6-inch display and makes use of many advanced display technologies. With such a large and powerful display, in order to offset against the power consumption, Vkworld also included a 4,300 mAh Sony Li-polymer battery and this is in spite of the T1 Plus Kratos coming with a very slim profile, measuring only 7.9 mm in thickness.
Nowadays it seems mobile phone batteries can be classified into two clear types. Those which come with a Li-ion battery and those which come with a Li-polymer battery. In terms of the T1 Plus Kratos, this is a smartphone which contains a battery belonging to the second category. While Li-ion batteries have been used for a very long time and their technologies are very mature and advanced, this has also led to some factories collecting used Li-ion batteries and refurbishing them for use again. Those refurbished batteries can at times cause problems, with some of the most common including liquid leakage and of course, battery explosions. In contrast, while the Li-polymer batteries are not the newest technology, they still do hold some advantages over Li-ion batteries as shown below.
So while there are some clear advantages to the type of battery on offer with the T1 Plus Kratos, this is also a smartphone which is able to make use of MediaTek Pump Express fast charging, so the battery can be replenished very quickly.
During some tests conducting on the battery life of the T1 Plus Kratos, it seems that the smartphone is able to offer talk time in the region of 34.12 hours, During a web-browsing test (at 200 nit brightness and using Wi-Fi) the T1 Plus Kratos lasted for 13.95 hours. While when using a 4G LTE network (and 200 nit brightness), the smartphone lasted for 15.27 hours. A video playback test showed the T1 Plus Kratos lasted for 14.76 hours, while in standby mode, the smartphone only consumed 1% of power over a total of 8 hours.
Of course, it is worth keeping in mind that the T1 Plus Kratos does come loaded with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) out of the box and one of the staple features of Marshmallow is the new “Doze” mode, which is designed to help improve battery life. Which is likely one of the key contributors to how well the smartphone performed when in standby mode during testing.
Interestingly, the packing that the T1 Plus Kratos comes in, is actually a VR box. By following the included instructions you can assemble the box and enjoy VR content just like you would with Google’s Cardboard.
The rear camera on offer with the T1 Plus Kratos is a 13-megapixel shooter from Sony, while the 8-megapixel front-facing camera comes from OV.
Additionally, the T1 Plus Kratos features a metallic unibody design and one which uses the same 7000 Series aluminum alloy as the iPhone 6s. For those interested, the T1 Plus Kratos is due to become available in early September and is expected to come with a price of $149.99.
