Earlier this month the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge received an update to receive HD calls and WiFi calling and today the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge is receiving a new update from Verizon that should help optimize device performance, resolve a few known bugs, and has the latest security patches. The update should also tweak the HD Voice quality, resulting in a reduction in HD call drops and increasing the volume somewhat. This welcomed improvement should make your calling experience better all around. Another important fix will prevent your device from an unintentional power off and restart.
Samsung is adding another exciting and unexpected feature – FM radio. This update will turn on the FM radio capabilities on your Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge and will allow you to listen to your favorite local radio stations. The device’s Barcode Beaming Service will see improvements to make it easier to read digital coupons, event tickets, loyalty, and membership cards.
As with all upgrades, Verizon recommends that you are hooked up to a strong Wi-Fi network and to make sure that your battery is fully charged. The software version for the Galaxy S7 Edge is – MMB29M.G935VVRU2APG5 and for the Galaxy S7 – MMB29M.G930VVRU2APG5. The size of the files is not given, but it looks like they could be large ones. If you are on Verizon’s network and you haven’t received your upgrade you can always ‘force’ it by checking for a software upgrade by going to Settings ->About Device ->System updates ->Check for system updates. Verizon also reminds us to let the upgrade go through its complete cycle of updating apps.
The Galaxy S7 devices were a real hit with the public this year, especially the Galaxy S7 Edge with its dual curved 5.5-inch display with a QHD resolution and Super AMOLED technology.
