The Xiaomi Mi 5s has been one of the most talked-about smartphones recently. We’ve seen tons of rumors and leaks when it comes to this smartphone, and judging by those leaks, this handset will resemble the Xiaomi Mi 5, but it might not ship with a physical home key below the display. If rumors are to be believed, Qualcomm’s Sense ID technology (the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner) will be located below the phone’s glass surface instead. Anyhow, we’ve been wondering when will Xiaomi introduce this smartphone, and it seems like Xiaomi has just scheduled a press event for the Xiaomi Mi 5s, read on.
Xiaomi has published an image on their official Weibo (Chinese social network) page, and the image contains a huge letter ‘S’ (as in Xiaomi Mi 5s, probably) and a release date for the upcoming product. This event will be held at the National Convention Center in Beijing on September 27th, and it will start at 10AM (local time). Now, that is more or less all the info Xiaomi has shared with us, but thanks to a ton of leaks we’ve seen thus far, we pretty much know what to expect. The phone’s front and back sides had surfaced quite recently, and the phone has also been benchmarked by AnTuTu a while back. The Xiaomi Mi 5s will be made out of metal and glass, it is expected to ship with a 5.15-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, along with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB / 256GB of internal storage. The phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics rendering.
The 16-megapixel 4-axis OIS shooter is going to be placed on the back of this smartphone, which is the same sensor Xiaomi had utilized in the Xiaomi Mi 5. The 3,490mAh battery has also been mentioned in previous leaks, and you can expect Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 to be available here as well. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the Xiaomi Mi 5s, and Xiaomi’s Android-based MIUI 8 OS will be installed on top of Google’s operating system.
