ZTE has officially posted an announcement today that they’re starting to roll out the latest software update to the Axon 7 lineup, which includes a few various sets of bug fixes and improvements and most notably the September security patch for the Android software. As the security patches are meant to improve the overall security of the device being used through making the Android software itself safer, due to lessening the risk from malware and other bugs, Google has been pushing these software updates out to Nexus devices every single month early on, and many manufacturers have been doing their best to follow the same time frame, including ZTE, which also mentions that the Quadrooter bug has been fixed along with this patch.
The September security patch is certainly a big part of this update, but it is by no means the only part of this update that Axon 7 owners will want to pay attention to. ZTE has also added in some new features. According to the changelog and ZTE’s post, a new feature called group messaging is now available along with the newer version of software, as well as things like the optimization of the battery life.
ZTE has also added a new feature to help users become familiarized with which apps are draining the battery on the phone more quickly than others called “Fast Battery Drain Apps.” With this in place, users will be able to get a better picture of what apps are eating up the most of the battery and modify things accordingly. ZTE notes that there are a handful of small adjustments that have been made to fix bugs and improve the overall performance and user experience of the phone, and that they have improved the camera, with specific fixes and improvements directed at the camera’s focus abilities. Lastly, there have also been some optimizations made to the RF performance and signal bar indicator. ZTE explains that this is an OTA software update and that it will be pushed out to phones over the next 24-72 hours, but they do also state that users can manually check for the update to see if it’s available. This can be done the same way as with any other Android device, which is by navigating to the settings menu, scrolling to about phone, then tapping on software updates.
