Facebook Launches Teen-Only Social App Lifestage On Android

Facebook has recently launched a new app aimed solely at teens onto Android called Lifestage, which allows users to share what they like and what they dislike with their followers. Facebook states that users can change things up in their like and dislike fields as often as they want to, giving them freedom switch things up a little or a lot. Anything that’s shared on a user’s Lifestage profile is shared completely publicly with their entire social network and anyone is capable of seeing it, which, as noted by Facebook means that there is no privacy for users with what they share.

With that said, the app lets users share with other uses that are part of their school network, but content can still be viewed by other users from outside that school, so long as that user is not over the age limit which is reportedly set at 21. Users that are older are limited to seeing their own profile only. The whole goal of Lifestage is about sharing with other students about what you’re into and what you’re not at any given moment. These video clips combine to make the video profile page, and while users can begin sharing videos as soon as they sign up for the app, viewing other profiles isn’t possible until the school for that user is unlocked, which happens as soon as a school has surpassed the 20 user mark.

While everything you share ends up on the video profile, things that are shared can also be shared across various fields within the app and to different sections of the profile page. This means users are able to share certain things with one part of the school network while sharing a different thing with a completely different part of the school network. This essentially lets users paint a complete picture of they are so other users can learn more about them. It also encourages users to fill out every piece of the profile. These different category types make it easy for others to find out specific traits about a user, such as their best friend or what their favorite movie may be.
