Facebook believes the future of Internet lies in video. As the company recently stated, its internal research suggests that in about half a decade, 70% of all consumer data traffic will amount to video content. The tech giant is convinced that real-time video broadcasting and streaming are an important part of that future which is why it has recently been pouring resources into Facebook Live Video. As a feature, Facebook Live Video isn’t revolutionary, but it sure is extremely convenient. You don’t need a separate app to use it, just open your Facebook app, click on that “Live” button which is seemingly getting bigger and bigger with every update, and let your friends and followers know what you’re doing. It’s that simple.
Given how pretty much everyone has a Facebook app installed on their phone, the company already has a huge platform for promoting its latest service. And that’s exactly what it has been doing recently. Apart from an enormous marketing campaign that just kicked off, Facebook is also investing a lot of resources in developing new Live Video features so that its users never get bored. Though major improvements can’t exactly happen overnight, smaller and topical features are usually relatively easy to push out, and one such functionality has just been added to Facebook Live Video earlier today. More specifically, the company just debuted a new set of Live masks appropriately designed for Halloween.
Facebook’s Live Video Halloween update introduces four masks: a skull, pumpkin, witch, and evil queen one. If you want to use them to entertain your friends, start streaming video on Facebook and tap that enhancement icon which looks like a magic wand. This action will open a Creative Tools menu where you simply have to select the mask icon and another tray featuring new video enhancements will pop up from the bottom of the screen. Once you start fooling around with Halloween masks on Live Video, your friends will be able to react to your content with a brand new set of aptly themed Facebook reactions. While the Like and Love reactions remained unchanged, Facebook now allows you to rate content with a laughing witch, an astonished ghost, a sad Frankenstein, and a rather angry pumpkin. Well, jack-o’-lantern, to be more specific. There’s still no word on whether these Live masks will stay around after Halloween is over, so check them out while you still can or simply take a look at the screenshots below.
