Galaxy A8 (2016) Goes On Sale, South Korea First In Line

Samsung’s mid-range ‘Galaxy A’ smartphones have been quite popular in select markets. The company had introduced several ‘Galaxy A’ handsets this year, and one of the most compelling ones is the Galaxy A8 (2016). This is the second-gen Galaxy A8 smartphone, the first-gen one was introduced back in August last year. That being said, the Galaxy A8 (2016) was announced at the end of last month, and the company has just started selling this smartphone, read on.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 is now officially available in its first market, Samsung’s homeland, South Korea. The phone was available for pre-order from SK Telecom starting October 1st, and it is now available for purchase, though it remains exclusive to SK Telecom (at least for now), and it costs 649,000 won ($583). The phone is available in Blue color variant only, but the Pastel Pink and Silver color options are coming soon. Now, SK Telecom will give you a subsidy of 250,000 won ($224) if you opt for the 6.5-gigabyte band data monthly payment plan which will set you back 56,100 ($50) per month. Having that in mind, if you’re wondering when will this handset going to be available in more markets, we’ll, we’re still not sure, as the company did not release any additional info when this phone’s availability is concerned, but chances are it will hit other markets soon.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) is made out of metal, and it sports a physical home button below the display which doubles as a fingerprint scanner. This phablet comes with a 5.7-inch fullHD Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of expandable internal storage. The 16-megapixel snapper is placed on its back, while you’ll notice an 8-megapixel shooter on the device’s front side. The 3,300mAh battery is also a part of this package, though it is not removable. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Galaxy A8 (2016), and Samsung’s custom UI is placed on top of it.
