Google talked about many things back in May during Google I/O, the company had teased the launch of Android 7.0 Nougat (back then known as ‘Android N’), announced the arrival of their Daydream VR platform, talked about the upcoming Duo and Allo applications (both of which are available now), etc. Now, the company had also introduced some software during the show, Google Assistant was one of the main announcements back at Google I/O and you can already get the taste of it if you install Google Allo app. Having that in mind, Google has just introduced their Google Home speaker which is powered by Google Assistant, let’s see what it has to offer, shall we.
Google Home is a nice looking speaker which goes with pretty much any setup you have going on at your house / apartment. This speaker comes in various different color options, and Google’s Assistant runs on it. There are some LED light on the very top of this speaker, and the speaker grille holes surround the device. Google Home is essentially your hub for smart devices you have hooked up in your house. You can control various different smart gadgets through this speaker by simply talking to it, and Google Assistant will jump in and follow your orders. Now, Google has included something called ‘Far-field voice recognition’ in this speaker, which is essentially a way for the speaker to hear what you’re saying from far away without a problem. On the back of the device, you’ll find a mic mute button in case you need some privacy, below which you’ll notice yet another microphone and Google’s branding. On the inside of this device, you’ll notice the high excursion speaker for HiFi sound, and you can even customize this device thanks to a replaceable bottom.
That is pretty much it as far as its specifications are concerned, Google really didn’t get all that technical with this device. The Google Home is priced at $129, in case you were wondering. Do keep in mind that this is its price in the US, and it will vary from market to market.
