Google is set to launch new smartphones later today (October 4th) during their press event in San Francisco. The company had scheduled this event a while back and has been teasing the arrival of their new phones for quite some time now. Google is actually expected to introduce the Google Home speaker (powered by Google Assistant) next to these phones, and also their Daydream VR headset, but let’s focus on the company’s smartphones in this article, shall we. The two upcoming devices are going to be called the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, as the company is stepping away from the ‘Nexus’ branding, whether we like it or not. That being said, in addition to a ton of Google Pixel leaks we’ve seen lately, some new ones just leaked, read on.
Verizon, a US-based carrier, has leaked some Google Pixel content as well, following Bell (a Canadian retailer) and the British phone store, Carphone Warehouse. Verizon has more or less confirmed the info both Bell and Carphone Warehouse shared, at least as far as the design of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL is concerned. Now, in addition to sharing images of these two devices, Verizon’s leak also confirms that the Pixel devices will be available in Blue, Black and White color variants, and that you’ll be able to purchase them in 32GB and 128GB storage variants (image down below). Now, on top of all this, the listing mentions something called ‘Google Magic’, which is the first time we see this feature, or whatever it is. Chances are that ‘Google Magic’ is something related to software, though we have no idea what it might be, we’ll just have to wait for the company to unveil their devices in order to find out.
Now, in addition to Verizon’s leak, @evleaks also has something to share with us. This well-known leaker has shared some images of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL through his official Twitter page. If you take a look at the image above this article, you’ll get to see Google’s upcoming devices in both Gray and Blue color variants. The company’s logo is placed on the back of this phone, and this is a familiar design we’ve seen in a number of leaks thus far. The bezels seem to be a bit too thick for today’s standards (though that’s a matter of preference), and the fingerprint scanner will be placed on the back of both the Google Pixel and Pixel XL it seems. Both the power / lock and volume rocker keys will be placed on the right-hand side of this phone, and its SIM tray will be included on the left. Google’s event is kicking off at 9AM PST (October 4th), so stay tuned.
