The Google Nexus 6P has been the company’s flagship smartphone, until today. Google has introduced two new smartphones today, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, which essentially means that the ‘Nexus’ line is a thing of the past. In any case, these two smartphones have been manufactured by HTC, and the Pixel XL is the Nexus 6P’s successor. That being said, we’ve already covered the initial announcement of the Google Pixel XL, and are here to take a closer look at what it has to offer in the spec department, read on.
The Google Pixel XL is made out of metal and glass, and while its design is not exactly flashy, we’re used to seeing that from Google’s smartphones. The phone is really well built though, and it packs in some really compelling specs. This smartphone sports a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440, 534 PPI) AMOLED display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 protection on top of it, along with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB / 128GB of expandable internal storage (up to 256GB via a microSD card). The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC running at 2.15GHz, and the Adreno 530 GPU if also included here for graphics processing. On the back of this phone, you’ll be able to find a 12.3-megapixel camera (Sony’s IMX378 sensor, 1.55um pixel size, PDAF), and the LED flash is placed next to it. Speaking of which, the fingerprint scanner is also placed on the back of this phone, as you can see in the provided images. The 8-megapixel snapper (Sony’s IMX179 sensor) is available on the phone’s front side, and is here for your selfie and video call needs.
The Google Pixel XL is unlocked, which means it should work with pretty much every GSM network, and it offers 4G LTE connectivity (Category 12). The 3,450mAh battery is also a part of this package, and it is not removable, in case you were wondering. Speaking of battery, you also get Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging here, which was to be expected, and Google says that the Pixel XL’s battery will last up to 456 hours on standby, and will get you around 26 hours of talk time. Now, as far as software goes, the Google Pixel XL features the latest version of Android, of course, we’re looking at Android 7.1 Nougat here with Google’s new Pixel Launcher which debuts in the phone. The Google Pixel XL comes in Quite Black, Really Blue and Very Silver color variants. The Google Pixel XL is not exactly a small device, this smartphone measures 154.7 x 75.7 x 8.6mm, while it weighs 168 grams.
