Google Store Begins Shipping Pixel Phone Pre-Orders

It seems that Google is preparing Pixel phone pre-orders just a tad bit early, as was probably suspected by some consumers. While the phones were expected to begin shipping on October 20th, Pixel pre-orders are being shipped out to those who paid for the devices as of today. Shipping new devices early even if only one day in advance is not exactly outside of Google’s wheelhouse, and it isn’t abnormal for other companies either, as Verizon reportedly began shipping out Pixel phone pre-orders as of yesterday. While orders are on their way out the door, it will still take some time to receive them, depending on whether or not you choose 1-Day shipping before you checked out.

It isn’t confirmed whether or not this is applying to just the Pixel or if it also includes the Pixel XL, but it’s not likely that it matters as Google is probably shipping out both phone types in either available storage size option. Since Project Fi orders come from the Google Store, it wouldn’t be surprising if those phones began shipping early as well, but there has so far been no indication that shipments may start today.

Having said that, if payments for the phone have started hitting consumers’ credit and debit cards, then it’s very possible that Prohect Fi shipments are just around the corner. The Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL officially launch this week, and come in multiple colors which includes Quite Black, Very Silver, and the limited edition Really Blue. Each phone will come with options for either 32GB or 128GB of internal storage space (although the Really Blue color is only offered in the 32GB model), with the Pixel carrying a 5-inch display while the Pixel XL features a larger 5.5-inch display. As of right now, the Pixel and Pixel XL are listed as out of stock or that they will take around 4 to 5 weeks to ship, when pre-orders were initially listed as shipping in 1-2 weeks. What that means is that you probably won’t be able to order your phone from the Google Store and expect it to show up this week along with the pre-orders, and there’s no telling of how soon Google will restock the inventory for the site. Having said that, if you did purchase from the Google Store, be on the lookout for your shipment notification email.
