The HTC Bolt has been rumored quite a bit recently, and is supposedly destined for Sprint’s network – hopefully not as a carrier exclusive. Many are thinking it’ll be a successor to the HTC Thunderbolt that was exclusive to Verizon and one of their very first 4G LTE smartphones (that tells you just how long ago that smartphone debuted). Now, thanks to VentureBeat, there is a new image of the device in the wild. And it looks, a lot like any other HTC smartphone with a metal unibody.
According to VentureBeat, the device is slated to be released later this month and will be running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Additionally, while it looks similar to the HTC 10, it is a bit larger. We’re looking at a 5.5-inch display here, although the resolution is not mentioned. It is likely going to be a 1080p panel judging by the other specs that have surfaced. The report notes that it’ll be sporting 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There is a micro SD card slot available, so you are able to add additional storage. Worth noting is the fact that HTC does support Adoptable Storage on their smartphones. Finally, the camera on the backside is slated to be a 18-megapixel shooter with a f/2.0 aperture. No mention of the front-facing camera, but it’ll likely be an “UltraPixel” camera. A few other specs worth mentioning is the fact that it has USB-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also has a physical home button, but it’s unclear whether that is a fingerprint sensor as well, it likely is, though.
This report mentions that HTC will have the Bolt available globally, “including on Sprint in the United States”. That doesn’t confirm that it will indeed be an exclusive to Sprint, but it doesn’t say that it won’t be. So we’ll have to wait until HTC makes the device official. And with the month already roughly being half over, it’s likely that we won’t have to wait much longer for the device to be made official. Especially since HTC is going to want to get this device on shelves before the holiday season begins which is just a few weeks away.
