Barnes & Noble seem to have a new tablet on the way called the Nook 7 tablet, which is not necessarily a completely brand-new tablet as they have had more than one iteration of the Nook 7, but what this tablet is, is a new version of the Nook 7 tablet. The new Barnes & Noble Nook 7 has just recently passed through the FCC for testing, and during its trip to the regulatory body there were numerous images taken of the device, as well as of some of the user manual, both of which seem to reveal at least a couple of details about this upcoming tablet from the national bookstore chain.
As is evident from the images below, the tablet has some decent size bezels, but that isn’t really uncommon for devices like this. The images also display that the Branes & Noble Nook 7 will use microUSB as the charging port, which looks to be located up on the top of the device accompanied by the 3.5mm audio port for plugging in headphones. Using wired headphones will not be the only option available here, as one of the images points out the Wifi and Bluetooth antennas so a wireless Bluetooth connection will be available for those who don’t like to be tethered.
When it comes to the hardware specifications, the FCC documents did not reveal every little detail, but they do mention a few of the specs that the Nook 7 tablet will have on hand. According to the documents, the Nook 7 tablet will come with a MediaTek processor on board, but more specifically the MT8163 Quad-Core processor, which is paired with a Mali-T720 MP2 graphics processor. While it does have Wi-Fi, the Nook 7 tablet will only have support for 802.11b/g/n. It will also support Bluetooth 4.0, and it has one mono speaker, a microSD card slot for expandable storage, and both front and rear cameras, although the quality of those cameras was not mentioned. Since this is just hitting the FCC, there is no information on pricing or availability for the tablet yet, but once it launches it should end up being available through any of the Barnes & Noble locations as well as online through their own website and likely various other retailers. Although it doesn’t seem to be listed, judging by the image of the manual that shows off the setup screen for the tablet, it would appear that the Nook 7 is running at least Android Marshmallow.
