LeEco is holding their big US launch event today in San Francisco. We’re on the ground covering everything that the Chinese manufacturer has to offer, and perhaps the most interesting of the products announced today is the LeEco uMax85 TV. This TV is a 85-inch television, and more importantly, it’s running Android TV and is of course a 4K affair. That’s a pretty massive TV, so you’ll be able to watch a slew of 4K content through Android TV, including Netflix and YouTube on a massive display. This TV, like the others LeEco announced today, will feature Harman Kardon audio as well. Which means they’ll have some pretty amazing audio to go with a pretty impressive picture.
This is running Android TV, which means you’ll be able to play games, watch content from your favorite sites and so much more. Typically, TV’s that have Android TV built-in, haven’t produced a great user-experience. We’ll have to see if that has changed with the uMax85 once we get some hands-on time with the TV shortly. Given that it has 802.11ac WiFi, as well as Bluetooth 4.1, excellent sound and a number of other nice features, it sure sounds a great choice.
The LeEco uMax85 will be available for $4,999. Making it rather competitive with other TV’s in the US, especially at this size. It’s a bit interesting that LeEco is announcing this new TV in the US, and using their own branding instead of VIZIO, considering they purchased them over the summer – although that sale has not yet completed, LeEco expects the deal to complete before the end of the year. Which means it’s going to be a bit interesting to see how well the LeEco brand sells for the company here in the US, considering it is brand new to US consumers. But LeEco has proved to be very popular in China and other Asian countries, and they have their hands in a lot of areas. In fact, they are known as the “Netflix of China” and in fact subsidize their products quite heavily to rope you into their video service. The LeEco uMax85 also has a n instant rebate of $1,000, making it $3,999 and users get access to LeEco Rewards, which includes access to content, and an extended warranty. The uMax85 will be available starting November 2nd.
