Previous LG TONE Active earbuds weren’t exactly wireless, but they still operated via a Bluetooth connection. LG obviously likes the idea of small, traditional-looking headphones that don’t have to be plugged into anything as it has just announced a new model of such headphones. More specifically, the South Korean consumer electronics manufacturer has revealed the LG TONE Active Wireless Headset HBS-A80 which pretty much looks like a revision of last year’s model.
Just like its predecessor, the HBS-A80 headset is designed for hanging around one’s neck as it consists of traditional earbuds which retract into a horseshoe-like body. The device also comes packed with a microphone, physical volume controls, and a button for answering phone calls. While details on the battery capacity remain undisclosed, LG claims that the HBS-A80 can offer up to 12 hours of talk time, 9.5 hours of music play time, and 17.9 days of standby time. In addition to that, the battery can be fully charged in just under two hours.
The headset isn’t exactly designed to be a fashion accessory and a statement from LG’s executive Bruce Tripido confirms as much. Namely, Bruce explained that the new TONE Active model has been designed specifically for usage during physical activities. In that context, this device is definitely more useful than regular Bluetooth headphones which can easily fall out of your ear when working out. LG is currently offering its latest iteration of Active earbuds in black and blue. Both versions can be purchased directly from the manufacturer’s website linked below and are priced at $129.99. Note that the device is charged via a micro USB cable but the adapter head isn’t included in the packaging so you’ll have to secure one or charge the headset through a computer or some other piece of electronics boasting a USB port.
