LG is, as many of you know, a South Korea-based company. This is actually one of the largest tech companies in the world at the moment, even though their smartphone sales are not exactly booming these days. In any case, LG had introduced some really interesting phones this year, the LG G5 sales were not exactly as high as LG expected them to be, but the company is hoping things will be different when it comes to the LG V20, their new flagship phablet which sports an always-on secondary display. That being said, LG has just introduced a new device in South Korea, let’s see what it has to offer, shall we.
LG’s new smartphone is called the LG U. This phone is, in a way, similar to the LG-made Nexus 5X which was introduced last year. Much like the Nexus 5X, this smartphone sports a 5.2-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, and it’s also quite similar to the Nexus 5X when you look at it from the front side. The LG U is fueled by an octa-core SoC clocked at 1.14GHz, now, we still don’t know what chip exactly is this, but it’s possible that we’re looking at one of Snapdragon’s budget processors, quite probably from the 4XX line. The LG U ships with a 3,000mAh battery on the inside, and you can expand its internal storage (up to 2TB via a microSD card), if that’s something you need. On the back of the LG U you’ll be able to find a 13-megapixel snapper, below which LG has included a single LED flash, and on the front side of the phone lies an 8-megapixel camera. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the LG U, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find LG’s custom UI, of course. The device measures 147.6 x 73.2 x 7.7mm, while it weighs 135 grams.
There you have it, the LG U is the Nexus 5X look-alike, that’s for sure, and it will become available in South Korea at the end of this month. The device comes in Black, White and Pink color variants, as you can see in the gallery down below, and it will be priced at 396,000 Korean won ($346).
