It wasn’t long ago when LG finally and officially unveiled the successor to the LG V10, and this successor came in the form of the LG V20. When the South Korean company first announced the LG V20, the company emphasized much on the capabilities of the dual camera setup of this smartphone, and recently, the company has released a post on its website which details some of the features available on the camera which may “surprise you” as the post puts it.
The first feature is Focus Peaking, a familiar feature to pro videographers and filmmakers alike. With Focus Peaking, highlighting an area that is most in focus in a bright color can be done with ease. Users will be able to immediately recognize what is in focus and what is not, allowing them to view and adjust the focus while recording a video. In order to activate this feature, simply open the camera app and switch to manual mode. Next, tap on the icon which says focus MF on the bottom left of the screen and use the adjustment bar that appears on the right to select the part of the image you would like to focus. However, this feature is only available in standard-angle mode and not wide-angle mode. Only the rear-facing camera may make use of this feature.
The second feature highlighted by LG is Tracking Focus and it allows you to focus on an object which is in motion. For example, you would like to record a video of a skateboarder doing tricks. In order to activate it, open your camera and activate it in the settings on the bottom left corner of the display. Once done, tap on the subject to focus and a light green box will identify and track the subject selected. However, it may be difficult to use this feature if the subject is too small, moving too fast or changes its shape or color. The third feature is the Zoom Slider, which allows you to zoom in and out using one finger on the display instead of two fingers. This function appears on the left hand side of the screen when you start recording a video in EXPERT mode.
