New Pokemon GO Update To Facilitate Gym Training

Pokemon GO perhaps isn’t as popular as it was a few months ago but that isn’t to say that the augmented reality (AR) mobile game is starved for players. In fact, Niantic Labs developers have recently started implementing features designed to make the game even more accessible to new players and have been adding new content to their mobile creation in order to improve user retention. As it turns out, one of these new features has just been announced by the San Francisco-based studio.

More specifically, Pokemon GO will soon significantly facilitate the process of training in Pokemon Gyms. Up until now, players were only able to train in gyms with a single Pokemon and there wasn’t anything they could do if their gym of choice was inhabited by pocket monsters of a much higher level than their own companions. In other words, they needed a whole lot of healing potions and patience in order to help their team raise the overall gym level at any specific location. Fortunately for them, Niantic Labs decided to give them a break and will soon allow all trainers to train in Gyms with not one, not even two, but six Pokemon at once. That’s right, no more fumbling through menus after every single defeat! In addition to that, the new feature will also lower the combat power (CP) rating of defending Pokemon if the said rating is significantly higher than your own. Of course, the change will only be temporary and will just affect training battles, not actual battles. Still, this is great news for all new and other low-level players who were so far incapable of contributing to Pokemon Gym defense because they didn’t have access to powerful Pokemon.

This change is presumably coming to Pokemon GO alongside its latest patch that’s expected to hit the Play Store in the coming weeks. Other than that, the new update will also introduce Pokemon capture bonuses for players who are stuck on their adventure and are having trouble with finding and catching rare pocket monsters. All in all, it seems like Niantic is now really focusing on attracting new players to the game and is doing whatever it can to make them not feel threatened by veteran players while not breaking the game’s balance.
