Official CM13 Nightly Now Available For The Xiaomi Mi 5

Xiaomi had introduced quite a few smartphones in 2016, including three high-end devices, the Mi 5, Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus. In addition to that, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to be announced tomorrow, so get ready for that. That being said, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is inferior to the Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus, but despite the fact it sports somewhat inferior specs, it’s still a high-end smartphone, and it can hold its own against pretty much every other flagship out there. Well, we have great news for those of you who own the Xiaomi Mi 5, and also love to mod your devices, read on.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is now officially supported by Cyanogen, as the company has released the first CyanogenMod 13 nightly build for the Xiaomi Mi 5. As many of you know, Cyanogen is a company behind both CyanogenMod and Cyanogen OS, CyanogenMod is free to use and consumers can install it on their supported devices for free, though it is not meant to be used for commercial use. Cyanogen OS, on the other hand, can be installed on smartphones by companies, but they need to pay a fee to Cyanogen in order to use it, so it’s essentially a commercial version of the software. In any case, if you own the Xiaomi Mi 5, and you want to install Android Marshmallow-based CyanogenMod 13 on it, follow the source link down below which will take you directly to the Mi 5’s listing on Cyanogen’s website. Before you proceed, however, we need to warn you that this could, potentially, brick your device, and if you don’t know what you’re doing, either inform yourself before flashing this ROM, or let someone else do the procedure for you, mainly because your phone needs to be rooted, and it’s not exactly that simple if you’re not in the loop.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is made out of metal, and it sports a 5.15-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display. This smartphone comes with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and 32GB / 64GB / 128GB of non-expandable internal storage. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, and a 3,000mAh battery is also a part of this package (Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 included). The 16-megapixel 4-axis OIS camera is placed on the back of the Mi 5, and a 4-megapixel snapper can be found on the device’s front side. This smartphone comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and MIUI 7 comes installed on top of it, though MIUI 8 is already available for download and you’ll probably be prompted to do so the moment you turn on your phone and connect to a Wi-Fi network.
