While the big hype surrounding Pokemon GO may be done with by now, the game certainly isn’t going anywhere. Sure, the hoards of players storming Central Park might no longer be here, but the game has recently been crowned the first to reach $600 Million of in-game revenue. Over the Summer, there were a number of ideas surrounding updates and other additions to the game that Niantic would take into consideration, and while it appears as though the firm had been taking it easy over the Summer, the first event is about to get started, this time in honor of Halloween. Events were one of the ideas that Niantic’s chief had talked about during Comic Con earlier this year.
For Halloween, certain Pokemon will become more common, no matter where you are, and there will also be more candies rewarded with each capture. The event will be running from October 26th until November 1st. The event will make the three original ghost Pokemon of Gastly, Haunter and Gengar more common as well as Zubat, Golbat, Drowzee and Hypno. These are Pokemon that perhaps everyone playing the game has already caught, but until the firm gets around to adding in more Pokemon, this is perhaps the best they could do for the game. When capturing, as well as transferring to the Professor, users will be given double the amount of candies they would usually get, which will certainly help those that haven’t managed to evolve a Haunter or Gengar finally tick off that box in their PokeDex.
This is the sort of event that a lot of fans will be happy to see, and given that a lot of families will be out and about knocking on doors trick or treating, Pokemon GO and Halloween to be a good fit for each other. If seeing more of the above Pokemon doesn’t do it for you, then perhaps the idea of getting twice the candy rewards for a buddy Pokemon might, as this will make it easier to evolve tough Pokemon such as Magikarp and evolutions of the three starter Pokemon that traditionally require more candy.
