Among the list of things that Pushbullet is capable of, one of the more beneficial that it offers has to be its capability to allow the user to send message replies to contacts from the PC instead of their phone, which is great for anyone who is constantly getting messages but also spends a good chunk of time during the day on their computer. Today Pushbullet has added support for Allo, Google’s new chat application that hit Android over the last month. Aside from adding another compatible service to their support list, Pushbullet’s Allo messaging now also enables a functionality that users are still waiting on Allo to receive officially.
As it stands, Allo does not have a PC or web version of the app, similar to what you’d find with Hangouts, and that could problematic for some who would be better off being able to type back and respond to messages with a computer keyboard. This is where Pushbullet comes in handy and lets users reply to Allo message from the PC. What this doesn’t do is provide users with a full suite of features the same way an actual native application would, but being able to send replies does at least take some of the strain out of having to pick up your phone every time you want to respond to an Allo message that has come in.
If you’re an Allo user and this sounds like something you’d be interested in, there are only a few things you need to get everything set up and running. The two most obvious things you’ll need are the Pushbullet app installed on your device as well as your computer of choice, and the third yet perhaps less obvious detail is that you’ll need to be on the most recent version of Allo, which is 2.0, as this added the quick reply functionality and Pushbullet makes use of it for things to work. With all of that out of the way, you just need to make sure that notification mirroring is enabled for Pushbullet on your phone and you’ll start receiving notifications on your computer as new messages come in.
