The OnePlus 3 is the current flagship smartphone from OnePlus and one which offers considerable value for money – a trait OnePlus has become quite known for. However, with 2017 creeping closer it is only natural for much of the speculation to start to turn towards what manufacturers will bring to the smartphone table in 2017, including OnePlus.
Of course, it stands to reason that the OnePlus 4 will be the next-in-line evolution, barring any drastic name change of the flagship range and in spite of the OnePlus 4 seemingly still months away, the rumors have already started to come through. Like for instance, the rumor that the OnePlus 4 will come sporting 8GB RAM and a 23-megapixel camera. Which would suggest that OnePlus is again looking to pack in the best-in-class specs. An assumption which is now also further backed up by a new rumor that has come through Weibo which states that the OnePlus 4 will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor. Now, this might seem like a given to some, as the OnePlus 2 came sporting the Snapdragon 810 and the OnePlus 3, the Snapdragon 820, but the 830 is still an unannounced processor. So whether it will or will not come sporting this one, is likely to be determined on when, and if, the Snapdragon 830 gets announced. Needless to say, this is just a rumor at the moment and one which does not particular come with much weight.
That said, another aspect of this latest rumor is that the OnePlus 4 will launch around the June/July time. Again, this is likely to seem more obvious than not to some, as it is usually around this three-month period that the previous OnePlus devices have been announced – with the OnePlus One having been announced in April, the OnePlus 2 in July and the OnePlus 3 in June. So it does stand to reason that the OnePlus 4 would be announced around the same time.. Although, once again, this is still just a light rumor and as mentioned, the release date of the OnePlus 4 could likely be determined by the release date of the Snapdragon 830, if the first part of the rumor is correct. In either case, if the other current rumors are true, those looking for a new OnePlus device might not have to wait anywhere near as long as June or July as it does seem to be the case that a new OnePlus device is en route, the OnePlus 3T.
