This past week was a big one for Android and Google-related news, as Google’s October 4th event revealed a handful of new devices that had been rumored for months. The Pixel and Pixel XL are, of course, the two biggest products from the event as the two smartphones have been waited on since they were still being referred to as the next two Nexus devices. The Pixel and the Pixel XL were not alone though. In addition to unveiling these two phones, Google also announced a new Wi-Fi router called Google Wifi, meant to be a mesh technology with the capability to link three router points together for a more full coverage around the home, eliminating potential weak signal spots.
Google also unveiled their first Daydream VR headset this past week, called Daydream View, which comes in three colors and ships later this year. Lastly, Google also announced the Chromecast Ultra which is their brand-new Chromecast model, offering 4K and HDR content support for $69. While not initially announced during the event this past week, Google did launch Google Home at the event as the speaker is now available for purchase, with it shipping in the next couple of weeks. Aside from Google, Samsung was also in the news as a new report surfaced that states Samsung may be looking to issue a second recall of the Galaxy Note 7 following new issues with the safe units that were replaced for customers. This has also led to a rumor that AT&T may be considering halting all further sales of the Galaxy Note 7 going forward.
