Ever since the Galaxy Note 7 units started shipping to consumers, things have been going downhill for Samsung. A number of reports surfaced saying that the Galaxy Note 7 units exploded, and Samsung later confirmed that a specific number of devices have been shipped with defective batteries which causes them to explode while charging. Since then, Samsung had recalled the Galaxy Note 7 units and replaced them with new ones ( the majority of them), but it seems like new handsets are also having battery issues and are unsafe. Samsung had urged consumers to return their Galaxy Note 7’s (both old and new ones) yesterday, and this whole launch managed to become a nightmare for Samsung.
This South Korean giant will lose a lot of money because of these issues, not to mention it hurts the company’s reputation quite a bit. Anyhow, all four major US carriers have already stopped selling Galaxy Note 7 units, though you can return those units your already purchased and either get a replacement phone (not another Galaxy Note 7, of course), or a full refund. Now, considering the fact that all four major US carriers have already stopped selling the Galaxy Note 7, it makes sense that they’re joined by the fifth one as well, right? Well, that has just happened, U.S. Cellular has joined the likes of Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint, and has stopped selling the Galaxy Note 7. As is the case with the other four carriers, U.S. Cellular offers you the chance to return your Galaxy Note 7 unit (old or new) in exchange for a different device, while a refund is on the table as well.
“Due to Samsung’s most recent announcement regarding its investigation of an incident with a replacement Note 7, and with the safety of our customers in mind, as of this morning U.S. Cellular has suspended sales of replacement Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices. While the investigation is underway, any U.S. Cellular customer who is concerned about the safety of their replacement Galaxy Note 7 may exchange it for any other device at a U.S. Cellular store,” said U.S. Cellular in an official statement. That being said, the CSPC had already released an official statement regarding Samsung’s latest official press release, the CSPC basically said that they support Samsung’s decision to halt Galaxy Note 7 sales, and that consumers should keep reporting issues with the device to them, while also mentioning that the safety of consumers comes first.
