In its home country of South Korea, Samsung managed to handle the Galaxy Note 7 recall rather well, as sales have already resumed and it seems most customers agreed on a replacement rather than a refund. However, things aren’t looking that great for the smartphone maker in some other parts of the world, as numerous important entities are still rather distrustful of the device that shipped with faulty batteries – ones which were liable to catching fire and exploding while being charged. The company’s latest flagship was already prohibited by several airline companies worldwide, as well as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the US. Now, the Galaxy Note 7 has also reportedly been discreetly banned by Royal Mail in the UK, the standard postal service in the country.
According to the information coming in from a report by Android Authority, Royal Mail employees are currently acting under a strict directive which forces them to inquire about the contents of any package they receive and if such a package contains a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 unit, they are reportedly instructed to not accept or ship the package. To say that this is an inconvenience for all UK-based owners of the potentially dangerous Galaxy Note 7 model would be an understatement. Namely, even though Samsung’s new phablet didn’t even hit the stores officially prior to first reports of exploding units, an exchange program is still underway and this ban technically prevents people those purchased the device from sending it back to Samsung using Royal Mail. Sure, it’s not like there aren’t any alternative delivery services in the UK to choose from, but the chances are good that Royal Mail will be the first choice shipping option for most owners of the device in the UK.
In any case, this ban will hopefully be lifted by the time the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 finally officially hits the UK market. Last Tuesday, the company announced that the phablet will be returning to European stores on October 28th, though people who have pre-ordered it in the UK through Carphone Warehouse could receive their unit a bit sooner than that, depending on where exactly they’re located.
