LeEco is a Chinese tech giant which is well known in its homeland, and throughout Asia, but regular consumers in other regions probably did not hear of this company. Well, LeEco started off as an online video company, and it is still in that business, but the company’s goals are much higher than that. LeEco had released their first three smartphones back in April last year, and is currently manufacturing not only smartphones, but also various other products, including electric bicycles, and it is involved in the futuristic car business as well.
That being said, LeEco had hosted a press conference in San Francisco yesterday, and during the event, the company had introduced a number of its products to US consumers, including two of their newest smartphones, the LeEco Le Pro 3 and LeEco Le S3. The LeEco Le Pro 3 is the company’s current flagship, while the Le S3 is its mid-range counterpart. We were at this event, and have had a chance to take a look at both of these smartphones, as you can see in the hands-on video which is embedded down below. In case you’d like to take a look at our hands-on image gallery of the Le Pro 3, click here. Both of these phones are made out of metal, and feel really good in the hand, though they’re quite slippery, but that’s what you get when it comes to metal smartphones. In any case, the LeEco Le PRO 3 is priced at $399 in the US, but if you pre-order it, you’ll get an instant discount and it will cost you $299. The LeEco Le S3, on the other hand, costs $249 in the States.
Both of these devices sport 5.5-inch fullHD IPS displays, while Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on both devices as well, and on top of it, you’ll get LeEco’s EUI 5.8 user interface. The two devices also ship with the USB 2.0 Type-C charging port, and they come with identical camera sensors. The 16-megapixel shooter (f/2.0 aperture, PDAF) is placed on the back of the LeEco Le Pro 3 and Le S3, while an 8-megapixel snapper (1.4um pixel size, f/2.2 aperture) can be found up front. Now, that’s where similarities end, the Le Pro 3 is fueled by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC, while the Le S3 ships with the Snapdragon 652 64-bit octa-core processor. The company’s flagship packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while the Le S3 comes with 3GB fo RAM and 32GB of storage. It’s also worth mentioning that the Le Pro 3 comes with a 4,070mAh battery, while the Le S3 ships with a 3,000mAh unit (Quick Charge 3.0 included in both cases).
