Xiaomi is one of the largest tech companies in China, and even though most people think Xiaomi is only a smartphone manufacturer, that’s not even remotely true. This company tends to release all sorts of smart gadgets, including tablets, fitness trackers, smart TVs… while they had also introduced some really odd devices as well, a smart rice cooker, a smart scale, etc. That being said, Xiaomi had also introduced a couple of Mi Box devices in the past, these are essentially Android TV devices, and they’re quite affordable considering what they have to offer. Having that in mind, Xiaomi’s Mi Box devices are still not available in the US, but that could change soon, read on.
Xiaomi had announced that the Mi Box will launch in the US sometime in the future, this announcement came back during Google I/O in May, and the device is still not available. Well, a new teaser has just surfaced on Reddit, and it seems to be Xiaomi’s official teaser, even though we couldn’t find it on the company’s official social media channels. Well, as you can see, there’s a date included in the provided image, and it suggests that the device could be launched today. As a reminder, this device did leak late last month when it appeared in one of Walmart’s stores, at least according to the source that leaked the image. Now, according to that leak, the Mi Box could cost only $69 in the US, and that’s a really, really affordable price point, considerably more affordable than its competition. Back then, September 30th was mentioned as the possible shipping date for the Mi Box, but that info was inaccurate.
Now, some of you are probably wondering what specs does this device include, well, this particular Mi Box will ship with 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and will be fueled by a quad-core processor (ARM Cortex-A53) and a Mali-450 GPU. All in all, this is a small devices that can bring a lot to your setup, all you need to do is hook it up to your TV and you’re good to go, no matter whether you’d like to get access to YouTube on your TV, play some Android games or perhaps use it for streaming, this little box does it all, as it’s a very capable Android TV box.
