AT&T’s DIRECTV NOW service will be launching in just a couple of days, as AT&T has now announced that it will be going live for customers on November 30th which is this coming Wednesday. AT&T had already confirmed the date that they would be announcing DIRECTV NOW, mentioning that they would be unveiling the availability date on November 28th. In addition to announcing the availability date of their new video streaming service, the U.S.’ second largest wireless carrier is also highlighting two more streaming options that are available for those who are looking for new ways to access their favorite TV content on the go, with services that AT&T is calling FreeVIEW and Fullscreen.
The price for DIRECTV NOW was previously rumored at a cost of $35 a month, and those rumors were correct as AT&T will be selling the service for that price. This is just the base package though, called “Live a little,” which comes with 60+ channels. If customers want more, they can bump things up to any of the other three packages which start off with the Just Right package at $50 a month for 80+ channels, the Go Big package at $60 a month for 100+ channels, and finally the Gotta Have It package at $70 a month for 120+ channels.
In addition to the above packages, both HBO and Cinemax can be tacked on to whatever monthly plan is chosen for $5 a month each, and DIRECTV NOW will be viewable from multiple platforms including Amazon’s Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Android and iOS devices, the web, and the Android and iOS apps can stream to Chromecast, as well as LeEco and VIZIO TVs with Google Cast and Smart Cast. While DIRECTV NOW is the main attraction, Fullscreen opens up access to over 1,500 shows of original content for just $5.99 per month and is a service which is already available. As for FreeVIEW, AT&T describes this as offering up unique and exclusive content, and can be accessed through the DIRECTV NOW application, and it will be free to access as the name suggests, making this more of a bonus perk for content for anyone who orders DIRECTV NOW. AT&T will also be adding more device support next year including smart TVs from Samsung, as well as Amazon’s lineup of Fire tablets.
