The OnePlus 3 and its sibling, the OnePlus 3T are both pretty new flagship smartphones in the market, especially the OnePlus 3T which was recently announced. OnePlus has ceased production of the OnePlus 3 in favor of the newer OnePlus 3T and the new device is already available for purchase in quite a number of regions around the world. Both devices pack a punch and cost much lower than current flagship smartphones, making them highly popular, especially among the budget conscious crowd. However, no smartphone is perfect, and that is also the case with the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T. Recently, some users of the devices have been complaining on the OnePlus forum regarding touch latency issues experienced on their devices.
Now, OnePlus has heard the complaints of its customers and the co-founder of the company, Carl Pei has responded to the issue, though it hasn’t been solved. In a tweet posted by Carl Pei from his official Twitter account, he states that the company is aware of the issue and will be looking at it soon. However, Carl Pei ends his tweet by mentioning that the Android 7.0 Nougat update for both the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T is the main priority for now. The Android 7.0 Nougat update is expected to hit both smartphones by the end of the year. So if you are using either device and experiencing these touch latency issues, it is likely that OnePlus will have you wait for awhile longer.
If you don’t know what touch latency is, it’s the delay between your input and the response from the display. Other flagship smartphones of 2016 such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, HTC 10 and the majority of this years flagship smartphones experience touch latency of around 50 ms, but reports have stated that the two devices from OnePlus experience touch latency of up to 93 ms. While the issue may not be noticed by the majority of users, it does become apparent when you perform certain tasks rapidly, such as typing fast or if you touch the screen and move the finger around very little, it will not be registered as a scroll.
