Download: Google Photos Now Includes One-Tap Dynamic Filters

A fair amount of new features and improvements are now a part of Google Photos, recently added in the 2.3 version update for the application, including easy and quick access to filters for images with a single tap. While not necessarily the focus of the most recent 2.3 update, it will surely be a much loved addition and will certainly make editing and tweaking pictures that much simpler. Plus, it should save users time if all they have to do is tap a single button. Google is calling these Dynamic Filters, and they’re designed to be more intelligent, and Google has given the filters larger thumbnails so they’re easier to determine how they look when applied.

In addition to the new Dynamic Filters, (which were likely a server side feature that Google enabled in 2.3) the editing controls in Google Photos have received an improvement. Tweaking various elements like color, light, and pop can be done by adjusting the main slider for that specific group, and if you tap on the drop down arrow it will reveal more options for users to fine tune and edit even more granular elements, such as warmth, tint, and skin tone, as well as a slider called Deep Blue, which according to Google should add some color and enhance the look of sky and water when applied. The main options as well as their drop down menus are all placed on top of each other instead of sitting in a carousel at the bottom of the app interface that you could scroll through.

As for what was added in the version 2.4 update, Google Photos can now show you which albums your friends appear thanks to the new in-album detection for people pages. This should come in handy for anyone who takes a lot of photos and frequently takes them with friends. If you haven’t received the update to photos yet, you can install version 2.4 from the buttons below. In addition to the new changes that were added to the app recently, it looks like there is more on the way too, with Google planning to add the ability for users to edit RAW images. At the moment you can already open RAW images in Google Photos, which is another feature that seems to have been added in 2.3 along with the Dynamic Filters. It also appears that Google is looking to alert users to which photos are in RAW image format by slapping a bade on them so users will know when looking through their pictures.
