Huawei had scheduled a press conference for November 3rd quite recently, and during the event, the company will introduce their new flagship phablet, the Huawei Mate 9. That much is obvious at this point, the device has been leaking like crazy in the last couple of weeks, we’re getting daily leaks more or less. Two variants of the Huawei Mate 9 were mentioned in a number of leaks thus far, the Huawei Mate 9 and Huawei Mate 9 Pro. The regular Mate 9 model is said to sport a flat display and on-screen buttons, while the ‘Pro’ variant could ship with a curved display and a home button below the display (either a physical or a capacitive one).
That being said, it is possible Huawei plans to introduce a new smartwatch soon as well, even though the watch probably won’t land on November 3rd, as this is the first time we’re seeing this smartwatch. The source just shared some leaked images of the Huawei Fit, the company’s allegedly upcoming smartwatch. As already mentioned, we haven’t really seen this smartwatch until now, nor did we hear about the ‘Huawei Fit’ branding. Now, needless to say, this smartwatch really does look like Pebble’s Time Round smartwatch, without a doubt, and it also sports an e-paper display, just like Pebble’s offering. Not many info is available about this watch, but it seems to be made out of metal, while its band is made out of silicone. Considering that it is allegedly called ‘Huawei Fit’, we do expect it to be waterproof, and its battery life will probably be great, mostly because of the aforementioned e-paper display, which is very light on the battery consumption.
Based on the info provided by the watchfaces on this smartwatch, the Huawei Fit will sport a heartrate monitor and a pedometer. As some of you probably already know, recent rumors said that Huawei might ditch Android Wear in favor of Tizen, or even its very own OS for wearables, so it is possible that this smartwatch could be the first wearable to ship with either Tizen or Huawei’s custom OS. This smartwatch is not exactly a successor to the Huawei Watch, though, as it is a completely different smartwatch, and has a completely different purpose, so it is still possible we’ll see the Huawei Watch 2 hit the market with Android Wear on board.
