Viber is pushing out a new update to it’s communication app that will allow users to more easily connect with businesses where they shop. With a new feature being introduced called Public Accounts, businesses will now have a way to provide easy access for their customers for whatever reasons that particular customer may be trying to get a hold of them. Say you’re looking for a specific item and you want to know if a certain business carries it or has it in stock. If that business has a public account set up through Viber, you can now get in contact with them through this outlet and potentially get the answers you’re seeking, which gets rid of the need search for a phone number.
Viber really wants to make connecting with brands a lot simpler just as they have made getting in touch with friends and family simpler, so that’s why they’re making the feature easy to get to as soon as you open the app. Public Accounts will now appear right on the main screen within the Viber application and can be viewed by tapping on a dedicated “Public” icon, and whenever users begin talking with a brand, the conversation will end up in the chat list along with every other conversation that’s present with regular Viber contacts. This approach makes it so that everything can be accessible from one centralized location, and is especially useful for those that will end up needing to go back to that conversation in the future.
If you aren’t sure where to find the Public icon on an Android device, it will be located in the top right corner of the app in between the icons for Viber Games and Search. Once tapped, you should be able to see Public Accounts for businesses and brands. Viber states that every single Public Account also has a Public Chat, so the easiest way to get in touch with any brand is to follow their Public Account, then you can easily head to the Public Account profile where you can access the chat. From there, as stated above any chat conversations with that particular brand will end up right alongside all your other Viber chats. Public Chats also aren’t just for communicating with the brands you follow, but they can also contain special promotions and other exclusive content or deals. In addition to the Public Accounts, the new version of Viber also adds a new media menu for easier sharing of pictures and video messages.
