LG Starts Pushing Android 7.0 Nougat To Korean G5 Devices

Android 7.0 Nougat is the latest version of Android software to hit phones, and while this has mostly been confined to a number of Nexus devices, other OEMs have started to implement the software as well. LG is one of those OEMs as they have just now started pushing the Android 7.0 Nougat software update to LG G5 smartphones in Korea, while mentioning that other regions where the phone is being sold will soon get the update as well. For LG device fans, this is nothing but good news, as LG is now the first OEM to release Android Nougat for devices after Google as an update, with the LG V20 having shipped with the software right out of the box.

LG does not give any specific time frames for when the updated software will come to LG G5 smartphones in other regions, but they do mention a general window and some of the regions which will receive the update. According to LG’s official announcement, in the weeks ahead, Android 7.0 Nougat will hit LG G5 devices in multiple regions including the Americas, Asia and other markets where the phone has launched, which presumably includes Europe and the UK.

In regards to the other regions which are still having to wait a little bit longer, LG states that a notification should arrive that alerts the user to the available updated software. This is no different from other software updates for other devices, and as always those who aren’t sure whether or not they have missed the update can always check to see if it’s available to download manually by navigating to the settings menu, then the about phone section, and finally by tapping on the software updates to see if there is anything available. Android 7.0 Nougat introduces a handful of new features, including the highly anticipated multi-window feature allowing users to open up two apps at once on the same screen to work with both simultaneously. Nougat also brings improved Doze mode and LG highlights that G5 owners will also benefit from being able to search for stuff inside user-installed applications. Other features which aren’t specific to the LG G5 include the App Shortcuts, as well as the in-line reply function.
