Pixel Pre-Orders Now Receiving Daydream View Promo Codes

The Google Pixel and Pixel XL were made available for pre-order the day Google launched its flagship smartphones of 2016, and customers in the US snapped most pre-0rder units up in a matter of days. Customers who were quick enough to pre-order one of those devices were eligible for a free unit of Google’s VR headset, the Daydream View, though the VR headset was not shipped out alongside the Pixel smartphones. Now that most US customers have received their Pixel smartphones, Google is sending out the promo codes to its customers who pre-ordered a Pixel smartphone, which will allow them to redeem a Daydream View, free of charge.

The Daydream View promo codes are being sent via e-mail and customers will have to redeem the code through the said e-mail. In order to do so, simply click on the redeem now bottom which is located at the bottom of the e-mail, and this will lead you to the Google Store. Next, add the Daydream View to your shopping cart and you are all set to check out with a free Daydream View. The promo code will be automatically applied to your order, but if that doesn’t happen, copy and paste the code which can be found in the e-mail.

If you would like a recap on the specs of Google’s Daydream View VR headset, read on. The VR headset comes with a built in 220 mAh battery with a run-time of up to 12 hours. It also uses power from the device it’s connected to, in this case the Pixel or the Pixel XL as they are the only Daydream-ready phones available at the moment, and also requires the device’s display for viewing Daydream content. The Daydream View comes with it’s own remote control which can be used for navigation of the Daydream UI and control of the content. The Daydream View is made from soft, breathable fabric which makes the VR headset lightweight, which in turn should result in the unit being fairly comfortable to wear. On top of that, the face pad is hand-washable, allowing you to clean it when the need arises. Connectivity options include Bluetooth and a USB Type-C port is available to charge the VR headset, though a USB Type-C connector is not included in the packaging.
