The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones are amongst the most popular mobile devices this year, if not the most popular ones. Samsung had opted to release two variants of their flagship smartphone this year, which is similar to what they did last year when they introduced the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones. That being said, the company had also introduced the Galaxy Note 7 at the end of August, but due to battery issues, that flagship phablet is no longer available for purchase, and that puts even more pressure on the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship.
The Galaxy S8 will be Samsung’s flagship smartphone for 2017, of course, and it seems like it might launch in March or April, if rumors are to be believed. Now, if Samsung intends to stick to their release cycle, this phone will be announced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next year, though it is possible Samsung will, once again, introduce more than one flagship ‘Galaxy S’ handset. We’ve seen quite a few rumors when it comes to the Galaxy S8, and a new one just surfaced. If this rumor from China is to be believed, the Galaxy S8 will sport 6GB of RAM and the company will offer a 256GB storage variant as well. Now, for those of you who don’t know, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge both ship with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage, while they also offer a microSD card expansion, but only the 32GB storage variant is available. Well, it seems like Samsung is looking to change things up next year, does this mean that the Galaxy S8 won’t offer a microSD card expansion, though? Well, we still don’t know, but it is possible that will be the case.
Now, a recent rumor suggested that the Galaxy S8 could ship with 8GB of RAM, but that seems quite unlikely. 8GB of RAM is considered to be an overkill at the moment, but, on the other hand, many people still consider 6GB of RAM to be in that very same boat, so who knows what will happen. If rumors are to be believed, the Galaxy S8 will ship with an AMOLED panel, and will be fueled by the company’s all-new Exynos chip which will be introduced in the near future. Rumors suggest that we can expect the Galaxy S8 to sport a curved display, similar to the Galaxy S7 Edge, though it is also possible that the company opts to release a true bezel-less smartphone this time around, who knows.
