Rumor: Nokia Flagship Phone May Sport High-End Specs

Nokia’s return to phones is no secret, as they have confirmed that new devices under the Nokia brand are on the way for future releases, but up til now not much is necessarily known about any of their unreleased phones. A new rumor may suggest that Nokia’s upcoming flagship smartphone could be particularly high-end, sporting top hardware like a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU and other specs that can be found in some various 2016 flagship devices. Other rumored specs suggest that the flagship smartphone could come with a Quad HD resolution display, perhaps around the size of 5.2-inches or 5.5-inches.

Nokia, which hasn’t produced any of their own smartphones under their own company for some time, had been producing smartphones under Microsoft after Nokia’s phone business was bought out by the Washington-based company. The new phones will be in a somewhat similar boat, carrying the Nokia brand but they’ll be manufactured by a company called HMD and are said to be coming in 2017. Another rumor also suggests the phones may make an appearance at Mobile World Congress for their official announcement.

In addition to the Quad HD display and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, which would be paired with an Adreno 530 GPU for the graphics, the phone is also rumored to be coming with cameras that feature Carl Zeiss optics, although there is no rumor yet surrounding what the quality of the camera sensors will be in regards to megapixels. That said, previous Nokia phones have used Carl Zeiss optics before, and Nokia’s smartphones have been known to feature some excellent cameras, so there is a good chance that this flagship could feature some pretty good sensors. Lastly, there is also talk that Nokia may be planning to make the device with a metal body, and make the phone waterproof to keep it protected from the elements, another common trait that can be found in quite a few high-end smartphones these days. While these rumored specifications do sound like they would provide Nokia with a compelling offering in the top tier phone market, there is no guarantee that any of these specs will be used in the final product, as there is still likely to be quite a few months before Nokia’s devices even make it to store shelves.
