The OnePlus 3 is the current flagship smartphone from the Chinese brand that started life just a couple of years ago with the launch of its first-ever handset, OnePlus One. Since then, however, the company has gone from strength to strength, earning plaudits for its products, but also quite a bit of criticism at times for some truly outrageous marketing gimmicks. However, the company has more than managed to hold its own over this period, and has become one of the brands to be reckoned with. As mentioned already, OnePlus 3 is the current flagship offering from the company, but the device was launched earlier this year and even though it continues to remain a solid performer in its own right, newer launches in recent times have taken some of the excitement around the product.
That being the case, the company is all set to bring an all-new flagship with slightly-tweaked internals to keep the OnePlus flame burning until next year, when the OnePlus 4 is expected to hit the market with Snapdragon 830 and a whole lot of other goodies. The upcoming device, rumored to be called the OnePlus 3T, has already been leaked often over the past week, giving us a decent idea about some of its hardware specs. The latest leak originating out of China now says that the device will be launched by OnePlus on the 14th of this month. While there’s no real way to confirm that right now, given that the device has started leaking so often over the past few days, it probably wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to imagine that the launch date isn’t really a long way away.
Either way, as far as the phone itself is concerned, it’s expected to feature the same 5.5-inch 1080p Optic AMOLED display that was first seen on the OnePlus 3. It is also expected to come in two different versions with with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, but both models are expected to have 6GB of RAM as standard. The major differences from the OnePlus 3 will include the SoC that will see an upgrade to the Snapdragon 821, while the primary camera is expected to have the Sony IMX398 sensor that can be found in the OPPO R9s and R9s Plus. Also unlike the OnePlus 3, the upcoming device is expected to have Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed. Finally, coming to the pricing, the OnePlus 3T will reportedly come at an $80 premium to the original OnePlus 3, and will carry a price-tag of $479.
