Samsung is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, and it has been that way for a long time now. This company had introduced some really interesting phones in the last couple of years, and their Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge devices are amongst the best and most popular smartphones in the world. That being said, things haven’t been going that great for the company lately, their Galaxy Note 7 phablet had to be recalled twice, and ultimately the company had opted not to sell it any longer due to battery issues. This whole fiasco cost Samsung quite a bit of cash and their reputation took a hit as well.
That being said people are eagerly awaiting to see the Galaxy S8 which is expected to launch in Q1 or Q2 next year, and as we’re waiting to see what happens, we have some more bad news to share with you, well, bad for Samsung. South Korean prosecutors have raided Samsung Electronics’ offices today. Now, the reason for this is a probe over a political scandal which involves Samsung Electronics’ President, Park Geun-hye and her friend, Choi Soon-sil. Now, Choi Soon-sil seems to be the main target of the probe it seems, but Samsung’s President has been mentioned in the report as well. The prosecution wants to find out whether Samsung provided financial assistance to Choi’s daughter, which is the cause for all of this.
Now, if the accusations are accurate, Choi Soon-sil had taken advantage of her closeness to Samsung’s President in order to meddle in state affairs, she had, allegedly, somehow influenced sports and cultural communities. She has been charged with abuse of power and fraud, and prosecutors have been investigating Samsung because the company allegedly provided $3.1 million to a company which is co-owned by Choi Soon-sil and her daughter. The prosecutors have allegedly raided Samsung’s offices in Korea, including the office of the company’s President, Park Geun-hye, in order to find some sort of proof for said allegations. These are some serious accusations for the company’s President, and some more negative press for the company because of it. Stay tuned to the site, we will keep you updated.
